Title of talk: SARS- CoV2: Vaccine Development
Dr. Denzin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and a Resident Scientist at the Child Health Institute of New Jersey. She received a B.S. degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Illinois-Urbana. After a post-doctoral fellowship in the lab of Peter Cresswell at Yale University, she became an Assistant Professor of Immunology at Duke and then an Associate Member of the Sloan-Kettering Institute. She also held a joint appointment at the Cornell-Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences and directed the joint Monoclonal Antibody Core Facility of Sloan-Kettering and Rockefeller University. Professor Denzin joined the Rutgers Faculty in September 2011. Her laboratory research is focused on understanding how the MHCII antigen processing and presentation pathway mediates immune system balance that allows for immune responses to pathogens without provoking autoimmunity. Specifically, her lab studies the immune response to mouse retroviruses and type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease that inflicts children and adults. Most recently her lab, in collaboration with several other labs at Rutgers, has started a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine development project.
